We know you are all wondering, “How’s the Pregnancy Resource Center been handling the last 12 months of craziness?”  Well, we’re here to give you the scoop!  When the pandemic hit 12 l-o-n-g months ago, we were just as uncertain as everyone else was.  We wanted to follow the rules, protect everyone, but still be functional and productive in helping the women, men, and children we serve.  Nothing about this situation surprised God.  He was preparing the PRC for MONTHS before the pandemic hit.  When Marcia (our director) came back from the 2019 Care Net Conference, she was super excited about a new online platform called BrightCourse.  This new technology would mean the PRC would be using online streaming for pregnancy and parenting classes instead of DVDs!  Even better, the worksheets and homework would all be digitally sent to the clients with their lessons as well!

So, the PRC signed up for BrightCourse in November 2019.  We loved it and so did our clients!  Fast-forward to March 2020– the world shuts down– but NOT the PRC!  God always has a plan!  We were able to send out lessons, call our clients, and maintain a solid relationship with them while being closed physically.

Aside from the wonder of virtual learning at the Pregnancy Resource Center, we have seen God answering prayers in a mighty way.  It was a prayer that we would be able to minister to the Hispanic population of Barbour County in a way that we had not been able to in the past.  We don’t have a bilingual volunteer, so the language barrier has been an issue in the past.  (Side Note: If you are bilingual, or have a desire to volunteer, we would LOVE to speak with you!)  BrightCourse offers all parenting and pregnancy classes in Spanish.  We knew we had the tools to serve that community, we just needed God to send them!  And He has!

We know everyone isn’t into statistics and numbers, but for those that are…  In 2020, there were a total of 328 BrightCourse lessons sent out!  So far in 2021, we have already sent out 111 BrightCourse lessons!  Those 111 lessons translate into 2,052 minutes of class time our clients have taken part in!  We administered 40 pregnancy tests in 2019, but did a whopping 82 pregnancy tests in 2020.  These are Amazing statistics, but even better is that we have administered 40 tests in just the first three months of 2021!
